Black History Month: A Time of Remembrance

As a kid, black history month was used as a time to remember icons of the past who paved a new path for black people to be seen as humans. This is hilarious because the 9 DNA series of black folk tells tall tells of how old they are as humans compared to others.

Below I have listed a few individuals that I think have pushed the needle forward with respect to freedom and civil rights (intentional or not):

George Floyd

What are your thoughts on these African-Americans and their role in pushing freedom and civil rights forward?

To me, there’s a notable gap of intentional trailblazers after the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The unintentional shifters of the movement arise half a century later in the 2000s.

Notable mentions go to:

  • Claudette Colvin
  • Malcom X
  • Ruby Bridges

Is there anyone who you think should be added to the list?
